Once upon a time, The Beatles came to Chicago. Here’s some video, including audio of interviews with Lennon and McCartney surrounding a controversy over their arrival and clips from the performance. The concert took place at the Chicago International Amphitheatre on September 5, 1964.

Meigs Field was a unique little airport on Chicago’s lakefront. Here is some footage from a landing there before Mayor Daley destroyed Meigs Field in the middle of the night back in 2003, citing “domestic security.” It looked like a great way to arrive in Chicago.
